Twitter joy!!

Well i've just discovered Twitter and have a added a supremely cool gadget to the side of my blog so you can read my posts daily! I'm in the studio more than anywhere in the house these days but it's all good, lots of exciting projects up and coming but nothing I am allowed to share yet (boo hoo!!!). Follow me and watch this space - you know you want to! xx

Cariad Mam

I thought you'd like to see a personal project I did of old photographs of me and my mother. I like the muted colours as they scream 1980's (that and my dodgy outfit!!)

I'm hoping to do a few more pieces like this and purchase some retro block wood frames to encase them. If you have any old photographs you'd like to produce give me a bell (or an email). A fantastic way to keep memories fresh and new.

Portfolio heaven!

After a small bit of research I have found a wonderful site which I can upload my images to so I can have a quick and easy online portfolio. Its so easy to view and use. Have a look by either clicking here or buy clicking the Portfolio button to the right of this post. I was able to upload a lot of paintings, new and old - and caricatures too!!! Please feel free to browse and comment on here about what you think of it. Thanks guys. Love to you all! xxxx

Kim dine with me...

My sister has been pestering me for these cards since I did my last batch. I decided to use mustard colour as its her new favourite and added a funny quote to the back:
"No man in the world has more courage than the man who can stop after a sip of orange juice"
Its an on-going joke between us that you can't just sip orange juice - you have to down the whole glass!
Enjoy them and remember, no dinner party is the same without these puppies!

The russelltree studio

Its taken me a long time to call this my 'studio' as it's always been the 'art room'! But since i've decorated and started russelltree i'm training myself to be slightly more proffessional with its name. I love it, its full of things that inspire me including a retro telephone, groovy wallpaper and lots of old stuff! x

Back to my roots

I have some free time coming up so I am going to divulge into my true love, painting and collaging. Since making the 'come dine with me' invitations I can't stop dreaming about work inspired by all things vintage, hand made paper (my true true love found in university), antiques and buttons!! I am going to put together a series of work together based on memories, eventually to exhibit but I may send them to send to Paper House, a well known card company and see how I go.

Now this is where I need your help! The title russelltree is an overarching name for all the design and artwork I like to produce, but I would like a name for my card illustration, as a sub brand. Using all the words I said above, can you come up with a name for me? Its a challenge, but the winner will receive the first free set of cards that I produce, a link on my site - an an eternal gratitude!!

Get posting :) xxx

Dragon and Shamrock

I've just finished this logo for a family friend who was setting up his own local garage. He's Irish and his business partner is Welsh so between them they came up with the name for me to illustrate! I wanted to keep it simple, as the name is gimmicky enough (I was also scared of making it look like a logo for a Irish/Welsh bar in Ibiza!). This is what I put together for them, and they loved it. Its kind of strange seeing the sign outside the garage when I go past every day, I also had the flyer through my door! Its really satisfying though and grateful to them for choosing me to do the job for them. I wish them every success in the future... x

Ooh la la!

I've been working on this design for a log time - spending several hours on it because I really enjoyed the flexibility the client gave me, do what I want basically! So this is what I cam up with, a modern French style! The designs were also developed for printing onto fold away hair brushes, and the glass front desk.

Come Dine with me!!!

My very good friend was holding a 'Come dine with me' party recently and wanted some snazzy menus and place settings to impress her friends. I designed these for her as she is a Laura Ashley fan and loves all things vintage! Soooooo easy to do and apparently went down a treat (just like the food!). If you are holding an event like she did, post after this comment.  If you are the first comment I will send you an identical set for free (different names and dishes of course)!!
